OMG did you see Lionel Richie and Friends last night.  A star studded event with some of country music greatests honored the incredible Lionel Richie.  Watching the show just brought back so many memories and you sit and say damn this man can write music.  I have posted some pics from the Lionel Richie and friends special!!  Through his musical career Lionel belted out hit after hit after hit....its amazing.  Lionel Richie has a new album that just dropped called Tuskegee which features his master recordings with country music legends.  The show last night brought out one of my favoirtes Kenny Rogers.  If you missed the show I am sure it will air again in the near future.  So check out Lionel's new rendition of Endless Love....what a beautiful video.  I like it although it is not the original with Diana Ross which is a Classic!! With camcorder in hand Miguel gives us some visual time for his new song "All" The grammy award winning artist always gives us his best and this song is sure to please us as well.  The only thing wrong with this is the song is not long enough.  I thought this was a snippet or a teaser but it appears not to be...this is the video but its too short..lol.  Nonetheless this artist has a true gift I am glad we are all able to receive his gift at this time!  He is definitely deserving of the awards and so forth.  I love this song....it reminds me of music that came out in the 80's feel good melodic tunes.  How could you go wrong listening to any music Miguel gives us...I give the song two thumbs way the hell up I'm not really feeling the video....but the song is da bomb!!!! I am liking this song from Madonna's latest album.  I hate to say this but I finally got around to hearing her album finally!! This is the best track in my opinion on the album. "Beautiful Killer," is a tribute to French film star Alain Delon. "I've seen every movie Alain Delon's ever made," Madonna said. "He's so charismatic." I am glad to see her having a comeback....hell ur never to old to creat music.  She looks fab at fifty.  Don't we all wish for that!! Banned Books list 2011

Because of the unique person that I am, I will be buying and recommonding every book on this list.  Anytime something is banned is because the THEYS of the world don't want you to know or see about it....Screw that you can't tell me nothing.  This is not Taliban ruled lands....I can read whatever the hell I want and make my own choices. I am that capable as we all are to make our own grown up decisions! Thank you!! There is a lesson we can learn from the books they say stay away from......They have gulit of what they have done to destroy other cultures.   The American Library Association  also known as the ALA releases a report on banned and challenged books every year ahead of Banned Books Week, held in September.  The most-challenged books were Lauren Myracle’s ttyl and its sequels, because of sexual content  Here's the top 10 list for 2011's most-challenged books:

1) ttyl; ttfn; l8r, g8r (series), by Lauren Myracle;

TTYL is a novel written entirely in the IM conversations, is probably incomprehensible to most parents, and you always fear what you don’t understand. Whats there to ban?

  2) The Color of Earth (series), by Kim Dong Hwa;

A book about a single mom and her young daughter discovering her own sexuality.  That is ban worthy?


3) The Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins;

The idea of a story about teenagers killing each other sitting in school libraries probably didn’t sit well with some parents in a post-Columbine world where school shootings have occured more often. It is the #1 movie so why the ban again???

4) My Mom's Having a Baby! A Kid's Month-by-Month Guide to Pregnancy, by Dori Hillestad Butler;

Wow God forbede a kid describing her mom's pregnancy month to month...this book is banned and I don't get why??

5) The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie;

It is a first-person narrative from the viewpoint of a Native American teenager.  Detailing Arnold's life on the Spokane Indian Reservation and his decision, upon encouragement from a reservation high school teacher, to go to an all-white high school. The novel deals with issues such as racism, poverty, alcholism, and the following of tradition. Why is this banned????????

   6) Alice (series), by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor;

The Alice series follows the main character, Alice McKinley, known as "Al" to her father and older brother as she grows up in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Alice series covers many topics, including relationships, dating, sex, friendship, life problems, families, God, and understanding. Wow banning this for real???

7) Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley;

80 years later and the book is still being banned? Gimme a break!!!  The plot has Miranda  who was raised for most of her life on an isolated island, and the only people she ever knew were her father and his servants, an enslaved savage and spirits, namely Ariel. When she sees other people for the first time, she is understandably overcome with excitement, and utters, among other praise, the famous line above. However, what she is actually observing is not men acting in a refined or civilized manner, but rather drunken sailors staggering off the wreckage of their ship.

 8) What My Mother Doesn't Know, by Sonya Sones;

The free verse novel follows ninth-grader Sophie Stein as she struggles through the daily grind of being a freshman in high school, her romantic crushes and family life. Wow this just screams ban me...WTF are u for real this is banned???

 9) Gossip Girl (series), by Cecily Von Ziegesar;

Gossip Girl is an American teen drama television series based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The series premiered on The CW in 2007. Narrated by the omniscient blogger "Gossip Girl",  the series revolves around the lives of privileged young adults on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York City. This is banned oh really then??????? WTH???

Perhaps the most baffling of the banned books over the past year is To Kill a Mockingbird, the seminal 1960 novel about the South by Harper Lee.People have asked for the book to be removed because it’s allegedly full of “racism and offensive language,”  This is a must read classic....screw what they say!!!!!

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Ring My Bell [HQ]

On Mondays I like to find a song that has been used or rerecorded by a different artist than the original artist. I call it Covers.....Today I am featuring the infectious disco hit "Ring my Bell" the original was sung by Anita Ward and in the early 1990s Dj Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince better know as Will Smith covered the song. They rapped to the track and changed the words around. While I like both versions, one has a disco beat the other a rap beat, credit has to be given to Anita for such a great song period!!!  "Ring My Bell" was the second single released from DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Princes fourth studio album, Homebase. The song sampled and shared the same name as Anita Ward's 1979 hit, "Ring My Bell", though the original lyrics were replaced by those written by the Fresh Prince (Will Smith). Nevertheless, The songs original writer, Fredrick Knight was sole writer who received writing credits, Source:Wikipedia.   It is a corny yet clever cover of a great disco hit. I like this version but the original cannot be touched! I give this cover two thumbs way the hell up!! Enjoy!!

Okay you know that phrase real recognizes real....well if you know anything about music you will recognize the real in this singer named Trent Crews.  The man is a force to be recokened with, a true talent rising up from middle America...Ohio to be exact and hitting us up with a problem....that leaves us wondering before Trent came along the music of today was problematic.  I am cheering for this artist to make it to the very top.  He belts out a powerful song and video for "Problematic" this is what real music is supposed to sound like.  Trent comes out of nowhere with a powerhouse of sound.  He has to be the next big thing coming, if the radio stations don't play him they go issues then.  I give this song two thumbs way the hell up! I love this song!!The video is simple and amazing!!!!!!!!! Love it!!! The Gil Scott remake is very well done.  The video is simple yet very well thought out.  It has it's own concept and not the same old same old we see everyday.  Drake said this in an interview with Capital FM  “It’s a big record and a lot of footage. It’s very artistic very abstract video—something that I wasn’t used to. I’m usually sued to a very straight forward concept so I’m really excited for people to see it because it’s actually just something beautiful to look at,”  Rhianna looks fabulous in the video and you could not ask her for a better perfrmance on this song.  I give the song and the video two thumbs way the hell up!Enjoy!!!

Just wanted to post some old skool stuff.  Performing a medley tribute to Luther Vandross during the 1999 Soul Train Awards.  El Debarge, Johhny Gill, Whitney Houston and Kenny Latimore perform atribute the late great Luther Vandross....I like music from the past and Luther was a true legend.  No one has a voice like him...no one!!!! It is hard to believe two musical geniuses Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston are both dead....damn that is sad!! Anyway I love Luther's reaction to the tribute, he is loving it! Kenny Lattimore is one of my favorite singers that song he did "For You" is beautiful. Johnny Gill did a great job on "Never too Much' and El Debarge is another great singer.   Enjoy the throwback video!! Now how ridiculous is that...the cat gets more money than the average American worker..that is a damn shame!!!! SMDH!!

Remember back in the 90's the Geto Boys had a song out called My mind playing tricks on me..well that song was sampled for the song entitled "If you want me" featured above.  It is by an artist by the name of Quben.  I could not find much info on her, however I did find her myspace page with plenty of pics and music.  It is an interesting twist to use the Geto Boys song as a sample.  I am liking it.  If you like her sound google her she has many more songs out there.  I give this song a thumbs up!
