In case you missed Atlanta Gay Pride 2011

No city in the southern United States throws a more potent Gay Pride celebration than Atlanta, which has for many years took place in late June. Atlanta Gay Pride moved to a new time last year, however, taking place at leafy (and centrally located) Piedmont Park in early October. This is an important time for Atlanta's GLBT community, as National Coming Out Day is observed in October, and the Atlanta AIDS Walk takes place later the same month). The dates of this year's Atlanta Gay Pride were October 8 and 9, 2011. Below are a few of the acts that performed at this years pride.

SIR ARI GOLD Make My Body Rock.  Gold, whose body and body of work have been making an impression on gay America for over a decade, says he’s practically “the gay pride poster boy” because he’s performed at so many Pride festivals. He gained further notoriety when made national headlines this year after a bus driver ordered him and his boyfriend to the back of the bus for hand-holding, a case they fought and won.

Wynter also perfomed to a large crowd.  For the past two years, Wynter has tirelessly traveled the globe, collaborating with some of the biggest names in electronic music and picking up a few tricks along the way. She’s stepped into the studio with David Guetta and Rhythm Masters, performed in front of thousands at the Winter Music Conference. All of these incredible experiences have gone into the making of her debut. As Wynter explains, “I’m not the same girl anymore. I’m more confident. I’m more me.” Her songs reflect this new self-confidence—she and her collaborators have given themselves license to play, reveling in a new sound that is a blend of European house, bold beats, and purely emotive songwriting.
